This privacy policy applies to the Otto Tax waitlist at ottotax.co.uk. We’re still in pre-launch — no product, no payments, no tax filing. The only data we collect right now is what you give us through the waitlist form. A separate privacy policy will replace this one when the product is live; we will email you to flag that change.
Who we are
Otto Tax is being built to help UK landlords with personally-held property handle Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD ITSA). For questions about your data, write to hello@ottotax.co.uk.
What we collect
When you submit the waitlist form, we collect:
- Your email address — so we can contact you when your cohort opens.
- How many properties you let — to gauge the size of the audience and prioritise multi-property landlords for early access.
- Your annual rental income band — to assign you to the right MTD ITSA cohort (£50k+ goes first; £30k–£50k follows in April 2027; under £30k in April 2028).
We don’t collect your name, address, phone number, or anything related to your tax affairs at this stage. We’re not your tax agent, and we don’t want or need access to your bank, HMRC account, or accounting records during the waitlist phase.
How we use it
We use the data above only to:
- Email you about the early-access opening for your cohort, and occasional pre-launch updates with relevant MTD content. You can unsubscribe at any time from the bottom of any email we send.
- Understand the size and shape of the waitlist (how many landlords in each cohort, how many multi-property) for product planning.
We don’t profile you, run automated decision-making, or share your details with anyone for marketing purposes.
Where it’s stored
Waitlist contacts are stored in Loops, the email-marketing platform we use as a data processor. Loops processes data in the United States; the transfer is covered by the UK addendum to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. The marketing site itself runs on Vercel (United States and EU).
Vercel Analytics is enabled on this site. It’s a cookieless, privacy-first product — we don’t see your IP address, we don’t fingerprint you, and we don’t set any tracking cookies. You don’t need to consent to analytics here because there’s nothing for you to consent to.
How long we keep it
We keep your contact details until you ask us to delete them, or until 24 months after launch (whichever is sooner). If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal suppression record so we don’t accidentally email you again.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct it if it’s inaccurate;
- ask us to delete it;
- ask us to stop using it for direct marketing (which is our only use here, so this is the same as deletion in practice);
- ask for a copy of it in a portable format (an email or CSV is fine).
To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@ottotax.co.uk. We respond within 30 days. If you’re unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Cookies
The marketing site sets no cookies of its own and no third-party tracking cookies. If we add anything that requires consent in the future, we’ll show you a banner before it happens.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top when this policy changes. Material changes will be flagged by email to everyone on the waitlist.
